Generate SSIS packages from automated script

Dec 17, 2012 at 9:57 PM

With BIDS helper it's possible to manually generate SSIS packages from your BIML file. Currently I am creating a deployment script (PowerShell) to deploy my databases, initial data and SSIS packages through the DTAP environments. My meta data to create the SSIS packages from one BIML file is stored in a table, which is used by a script inside the BIML file.

Is it possible to generate SSIS packages from one BIML file from a custom script like PowerShell or .NET without having to go into Visual Studio manually and clicking the "Generate..." menu item of het context menu of the BIML file? How can I do this (I can imagine that I have to call some functionality stored in one of the DLLs)?

Thank you in advance.

The BIML compiler built into BIDS Helper was provided by Varigence . If you want to compile BIML outside of BIDS Helper I believe that you will need to purchase their Mist product which comes with a command line tool called Hadron.
