I recently downloaded and installed the 1.6.2 update for VS2010 for SQL2012. I had been running 1.6.1 with no problems. Now when I check in VS2010 help I still see 1.6.1. But control panel has 1.6.2 installed. I've restarted VS2010 and my computer windows 7 (32bit)

I would shut down Visual Studio, uninstall BIDS Helper, restart Visual Studio, then see if BIDS Helper is still running. I suspect you have an xcopy deploy copy of BIDS Helper still installed.
