When SQL 2014 goes RTM it will include as a web download SSDTBI development tools that live in the Visual Studio 2013 shell. But that functionality isn't in the current CTP. So I would expect BIDS Helper support a few months after RTM of SQL2014 depending on how complex that integration turns out to be.

For CTP2 Microsoft instructs people to use the current SSDTBI for Visual Studio 2012 and deploy to SQL2014. BIDS Helper already supports SSDTBI for Visual Studio 2012.

thanks for the reply

so since i am using VS2012 the issue is with the SSDTBI version, i am using the 12.0.1524.0 (for SQL2014 CTP2) instead of the 11.0.3369.0 (for SQL2012)

but if i roolback i will probably lost the ability to deploy BI projects to SQL2014
any ideas ?

Sorry I wasn't more precise. Note in this article that SQL2014 support in VS2012 is just a CTP2 thing.

So we don't intend to support that since apparently Microsoft won't support that come RTM. We intend to build VS2013 support for SQL2014 at RTM just like Microsoft.

If you install the SQL2012 dev tools (on another machine separate from SQL2014 CTP2) there is no reason you can't deploy to a server that's running a newer version. The only complexity is that SSIS packages will need to be auto upgraded which can impact runtime performance. If that is your scenario I suspect there is some way to manually upgrade the SSIS packages from a SQL2014 server but haven't researched.

Does that make sense?

yes it does, (i have other VM with the SQL2012 i can use so i will go that way)
other question, there is a way to programmatically expand/compile BIML files into SSIS packages ?

Proper BIDS Helper Biml support for SSIS 2014 and Visual Studio 2013 has been released:

Please give it a try and let us know if you find any problems.
