Meaningful filename in SmartDiff comparisons

Hi,

Is there anyway SmartDiff can provide a meaningful naming convention for the two versions. It is sometimes difficult to find out which one is my local version and which one is the VSS's. The screenshot here seems to produce nice names ( package7.dtsx:6 (server) and package7.dtsx (client) ) but when I compare two SSIS packages, it gives me names like tmp47.tmp and tmp4A.tmp.

You must not have the TFS client installed. Install it from here:

The SourceSafe client diff viewer is used as a fallback if you don't have the TFS client installed.

I already have Visual Source Safe 2005. Do I still need the TFS client?

If you want the friendlier filename at the top of the diff, then you need to install TFS client. We use TFS client for displaying the diff if it's installed since we're able to show friendlier names with it than with the VSS diff viewer.

Just to be clear, your project can still be connected to SourceSafe and BIDS Helper will use the TFS diff viewer.
