SSIS Project/Solution "Deploy" Option Not Available

Topics: Resolved

Hello,

I've seen older posts related to this and saw that the issue should have been resolved, but I am experiencing it with the latest BIDS Helper (1.4.2.1). I downloaded and installed the BIDS Helper for SQL Server 2008 (BIDSHelper2008Setup(1.4.2.1).exe). I am using Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition, .Net 3.5 SP1,  WinXP Professional Edition SP3.

I see the "Deploy" option in the context menu when I right-click one or more dtsx packages, and I see the "Deploy (BIDS Helper)" tab in the SSIS project's property pages, but I do not see the "Deploy" option in the context menu of the project or the solution.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling BIDS Helper, as well as installing v1.4.2.0, but get the same behavior. I also tried toggling the "Deploy SSIS Packages" feature under VS Options.

Any ideas would be great! I think cannot generate the automated deployment script without the project or solution "Deploy" context menu option.

Thanks,

Tom

I've just checked in a change to the source code that will hopefully work for everybody. And if it doesn't, it will spit out a debug file to the following path which you can send us via attaching it to a new issue under Issue Tracker:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp\BidsHelperDeploySSISPackagesPropertiesMenuDebugLog.txt

If you want a quick private build of this change to make sure it's working for you before we release this change, contact me.

That was a while ago, and I'm no longer working on the SSIS project... I don't remember a specific solution if any, but recall installing a different version of visual studio (Team Suite edition?).

I think we've finally got this fixed. We've had a number of people suffering from this problem test it out with the newest code. This should be fixed in the next release after 1.4.2.1 when it comes out. Thanks for your patience.

I've got MS SQL SRV developer and VS 2005 installed and BIDS is showing up and functioning. However, I am unable to make the BIDSHelper add-in from codeplex work. It shows as being installed but, none of the options (deploy, etc) are showing. Any Ideas?

BurnScruz-

When you go to Help... About Microsoft Visual Studio, what version of BIDS Helper do you see? Please make sure it's 1.4.3.0 or higher.

Did you use the installer to install BIDS Helper, or did you use the xcopy deploy?

And do you have an SSIS project file open, or did you just right click on a dtsx and click Edit (i.e. opening it outside of a project file).

Did you use the installer to install BIDS Helper, or did you use the xcopy deploy? I was able to use the installer

do you have an SSIS project file open, or did you just right click on a dtsx and click Edit (i.e. opening it outside of a project file). I opened a a .dtproj file and right clicked the .dtsx

Should I be able to deploy to remote servers from my desktop?

The Add-in didn't load I get the message:

The Add-in 'BIDSHelper' failed to load or caused an exception.

Would you like to remove this Add-in?

if you choose yes, the file it was loaded from, C:\Program Files\BIDS Helper\BIDSHelper.AddIn', will be renamed.
