SSIS Performance Visualization Index out of range

description

Hello,   I have succefully utilized the SSIS Performance Visualization before and loved it. However when I have tried lately I have been receiving multiple index out of range popup errors. I have uninstalled and re-installed BIDS Helper to no avail. Looks like our code that's reading in the log file is running into an issue. Can you do the following to grab a copy of the log files in question, zip them and attach them to this issue?

Start... run... %temp%
Then run SSIS Performance Visualization.
I believe it will create a new directory inside that temp directory
As soon as you get an error, quick as a bunny copy and paste that directory it created to somewhere else. Then zip it up and attach it to this issue.

Studying the code involved, I see a few places where this error is likely being thrown. I should be able to prevent the error, but I want to understand what's being logged since what's being logged is unexpected.

Thanks. I could repro the error with the attached log files. Looking into it.

When you run that package in debug mode inside BIDS, on the data flow named Hierarchy, can you tell me how many rows were pumped through each path on the Hierarchy data flow? Basically I'm asking for you to tell me the numbers you see on the screen in BIDS once the package finishes running in debug mode. Just making sure what I'm seeing in the log is right since I only see rows flowing from the "Lookup Review" output into the input of "Lookup". That seemed odd to me.

Also, when you run the package in debug mode, can you confirm whether or not the two source components in the Hierarchy data flow change color or not. The reason I wonder is that BIDS uses the same events to change the color of the components on the screen during execution. So if the events in question are missing for it in addition to missing in the log file you sent me, that's a clue.

Thanks for reporting this bug. We've researched this and made a few tweaks in the code that will hopefully prevent this particular error message.

But the main problem we found is that some versions of SSIS weren't logging all the proper events. For example, I could reproduce the problem you were having on SQL2008 SP2. But installing SQL2008 SP3 (the CTP just came out) fixed the problem.

We're checking with a Microsoft contact to see when they plan on fixing this bug in SQL 2008 R2. I'll post back here what we hear.
