SSIS Deploy package - sending 2012 pacakge to SSIS 2008 R2 throws error 0x80040154

If I use the SSIS Deploy functionality to try to send an SSIS package in SQL 2012 format to a Server running only SSIS 2008 R2, an error results, see below for an example.
I realise this is not a valid deployment scenario, but perhaps this could be trapped and a more informative message presented?
I'm using SQL 2012 / VS2010, with BIDS Helper

the error message comes from dtutil

We're just surfacing the dtutil error and can't really do better than that.

By the way, it looks like you're using a SsisPackageStoreMsdbDestination destination. If you try SqlServerDestination will it work? I haven't tried it, but it may be worth a shot... though like you said, this isn't a valid deployment scenario.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for looking into this so quickly. I'll try and repro it with dtutil and raise it on Connect.

Actually I didnt want it to work, just a clearer error message about why it was failing.
