SSIS Error - Value does not fall within expected range, when opening SSIS Package

description

I have a Solution with multiple projects, one for SSIS and others.

The Solution has multiple Solution Configurations, some are only intended for the non-SSIS projects. If I have chosen one of those Solution Configurations and try to open any SSIS Package, it does not load and Visual Studio shows an error: Value does not fall within expected range.

If I merely change the Solution Configuration to one where BIDS Helper is configured, the package opens without any issues.

If I choose the original Solution Configuration, then try to view the Project Properties, I get an error: Could not open BIDS Helper properties window customizations.

Environment is VS2010 from SQL 2012 install. I've been using this particular machine for a few years with no issues.

So I'm not certain, but this seems like it might be a BIDS Helper issue?

Mike, can you do Start... Run... %temp%
Then attach BidsHelperDeploySSISPackagesPropertiesMenuDebugLog.txt to this issue and we can troubleshoot further. That file gets written if we can't hook in the Project properties feature.

Do you have solution folders? There is a know issue there.

Could you attach screenshots of the working solution configuration and the one that's not working?

Can you include a screenshot of the errors and can you copy the full error message if more is available?

Finally, can you uninstall BIDS Helper and then Try to open the SSIS package again. Lets make sure that part is te fault of BIDS Helper.

Hi Greg,

I uninstalled BIDS Helper and had the same error when opening an SSIS package, and a different error when trying to view the Project properties.

So it seems it's not a BIDS Helper issue?

I dug around in the Solution Configuration and found that for the SSIS Project, although it appeared that there was a matching Project Configuration, in fact there wasnt. I created that and now all is happy.

Thanks for your help - apologies for wasting your time.

Mike
