A beta release of BIDS Helper 2014 is now available to everyone:

The current version of BIDS Helper supports Visual Studio 2013, but BIML still generates dtsx-files in SQL 2012 format.

When will you release a version of BIDS Helper that generates SQL 2014 SSIS packages directly ?

If you need a beta tester for this, I would be glad to help.

Hi, We are also on VS2013 and SQL server 2014 and would like to know when it is likely to be updated please?

Would be good to be able to create project connection managers and redirect lookups no matches to RedirectRowsToNoMatchOutput path output.

We've been through a couple of rounds of testing on the BIML support for SQL 2014. I believe that this is back with Varigence to fix some other issues that were found in the updated BIML engine. Still no firm ETA, but progress is being made. I believe that Project connection managers are definitely supported, I'm not 100% sure on redirecting lokkup no matches,

Thanks Dgosbell. That's very helpful. I just tried BIDS Helper with VS 2012 and SQL Server 2014 and it allows Project Connection Managers as well as redirection to NoMatchOutput to lookups.
It still doesn't support project parameters though but that's probably not a very big issue and we can easily get around that by adding the parameters manually if required.

Due to time scales and stuff we probably have to go for VS2012 for package generation but just wanted to check if there are any known issues with that?

VS2012 BIML does support project parameters, I was using them last week. Sorry, can't recall the syntax now.
Mar 2, 2015 at 10:33 PM
Cheers Darren. It does but only if the Project parameter already exists. It doesn't generate a project parameter but can refer to it, if it already exists. What this means is the package will be generated successfully and the project parameter can be referenced inside the package but during execution, the package will not find the parameter in the project and will fail. The link below talks about the same issue in detail.

If you are aware of a workaround of some sort, it would help if you could share.

Retested and can confirm this works ok now.

This version of BIDS Helper supports VS2013 and SS2014 and the following now work ok.
  1. Projects Connections
  2. LookUp No match path is now supported
  3. Script Tasks work ok now.
Cheers
