NOTE: BIML support is currently disabled waiting on an updated engine from Varigence.
KNOWN ISSUE: When installing SSDT, install SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS. BIDS Helper does not currently support partial installs of SSDT.

For versions of BIDS Helper that work with previous versions of Visual Studio and SQL Server, see Release 1.7.0.

Reviews for this release

This release is unstable w/ the latest release of SSDT 17.0 (build 14.0.61704.140) It does not load and gives the following error: " BIDS Helper encountered an error when Visual Studio started: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. at System.Reflection.RuntimeModule.GetTypes(RuntimeModule module) at System.Reflection.RuntimeModule.GetTypes() at System.Reflection.Assembly.GetTypes() at BIDSHelper.BIDSHelperPackage.Initialize() in C:\projects\BIDS Helper\dev\bidshelper-vsix\BidsHelperPackage.cs:line 108 Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AppLocal, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Fusion Log: WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF. To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1. Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging. To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog]. "

For now, for BIDS Helper to be compatible in VS2015 you need to use the SSDT 16.5 for VS2015 found here: To know if you have that installed, your Help... About Microsoft Visual Studio will say: Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Designer Version 13.0.1701.8 If you must use SSDT 17.0 in VS2015 then click furmangg and shoot me an email to become a beta tester as we work on support for the recently released version that's compatible with SQL 2017
